Fight Club (1999).
“On a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.”
‘Something, or more often than not someone, sounding akin to Lykke Li repositioned within the typically surrealist context of a David Lynch film has become a pretty hackneyed simile to have been employed willy-nilly of late when describing the noirish concerns of the rimy Scandi songstress. Nonetheless that’s exactly what happens here, as the Skåne heartthrob materialises to emanate smoky sweet nothings over what is to be the bonus track to Lynch’s sophomore solo recording. Entitled THE BIG DREAM [CAPS of course as standard] it is to be the impatiently awaited follow-up to the inimitably, and with it immediately berserk Crazy Clown Time of 2011, and the pair apparently make for a pretty formidable match after all with Lynch’s languid, if insistent snares the sable coals which allow for Zachrisson’s wistful vocal to continually smoulder. Commensurately repetitive, “I’m waiting here” proves her trusty lyrical fulcrum and there’s little else there, though in simplicity here resides seduction and that of this is ludicrously effortless.’
THE BIG DREAM is anticipated July 15th on Sunday Best Recordings.
